About
Mark Woollam is a painter on the MA Painting program at the RCA. His painting is a sensory response to being in the world: loose, intuitive mark-making that reflects on themes of memory, place, people, nature and music. An encouragement to be present in the moment, to slow down and look attentively, reflecting on one’s engagement with nature and humanity.
The Across RCA project addresses the climate crisis issue of rising temperatures and the causal link to human activity. The aim is to encourage rather than promote fear, through the element of interactivity, to remind people that we all have the agency to bring about change. The team designed and built a reclining chair that makes use of material that changes in response to touch, revealing the message of climate change, and a chair design that encourages relaxation and reflection on the issue.
