Keep your memories in a Preserve Kit

About
Memories of loss are often heavy, making it difficult for us to openly talk about them or bring them up first in conversation. However, when our team gathered and shared our own experiences of loss, we all felt something profound—perhaps, the very act of sharing these stories with others could be the first step toward healing.
People have different experiences, but the shared essence of loss lies in the quiet struggle and deep longing to remember. We aimed to express these emotions visually through vacuum preservation. We print the received stories onto envelopes, allowing the text itself to convey the traces of personal pain and absence. In response, we stitch over the words with thread, emphasizing their presence. Thread has long symbolized connection across various cultures. By carefully stitching each letter, we deepen our bond with the stories, creating a tangible link between past and present. Through the act of vacuum-preserving loss, printing words onto envelopes, and sewing each letter by hand—an almost meditative process—we explore the lingering imprint of grief and the resilience that emerges from it.
