About
I am Siyu Huang, and my work explores the intersection of childhood memories and sci-fi aesthetics. By blending traditional techniques with digital media, I seek to capture the fluidity and ambiguity of memory, creating spaces that invite interpretation and emotional connection.
I work across various mediums, including ink painting, printmaking, digital prints on silk, and installation. Transparency, layering, and movement play a key role in my practice, reflecting the way memories shift over time. Inspired by artists like Chiharu Shiota, I use lines and structures to symbolize the links between past and present, reality and imagination. Recently, I have been researching the aesthetics of 1980s Chinese sci-fi films, abstracting their visual language to bring a sense of nostalgia and futuristic speculation into my work.
My goal is to expand personal narratives into broader reflections on collective memory, identity, and time. I want my work to create a space where viewers can find their own connections, allowing memory and imagination to intertwine in new ways.
