Lootpia: Flushing the Stigma

3D rendered layout of a conceptual public toilet exhibit titled "LOOTOPIA", divided into different zones: Dryer zone, Mirror zone, Information zone, and Toilet zone. Each section is labeled and visually distinct. The Information zone features a "History of Toilets" panel, while the Toilet zone contains a toilet fixture and signage. The exhibit is part of a theme on rethinking public toilets.

About

Lootpia is an interactive exhibition that rethinks public toilets as essential spaces of care, health, and dignity. In London where many public facilities are disappearing or neglected, our project highlights the urgent need for accessible, clean, and inclusive sanitation through immersive design.

Blending data visualisation, digital storytelling, and hands-on interaction, Lootpia transforms toilets from a taboo topic into a shared public conversation. Through zones that reflect hygiene, reflection, and education, visitors confront the reality of public toilet access in London — how infrastructure, culture, and design intersect to impact public health and daily life. Inspired by museum experiences that foster empathy and engagement, this exhibition encourages self-reflection and collective responsibility.

Lootpia is not just about loos — it’s about reimagining a future where everyone can relieve themselves with comfort, dignity, and care.
