Art Tool

Art Tool

About

Art Tool is an initiative designed to challenge the ongoing marginalization and denigration of emerging artists within the traditional structures of what is usually referred as the “art world”—specifically, the institutions, both public and private, that often overlook them.
With Art Tool, artists and other creatives will be able to travel the city and take their work directly to the streets, setting up a mobile studio or/and exhibition wherever they choose—perhaps even in front of institutions that fail to recognize their contributions. The core of this initiative is a custom-built box, containing materials and artworks, mounted on a bike for easy and sustainable mobility.
More than just a practical instrument, Art Tool is a manifesto. It seeks to democratize the artistic process while critiquing the established systems of art promotion. Unlike traditional institutional critique, Art Tool offers a playful and approachable strategy, using art as a means to unite people and challenge the status quo.

It is an original project developed by Thomas Petherick, Yasmine Helou, Anjalee Malan and Qian Zhang
