Building Connections Through Creativity in Clapton Commons

Collection of prints on the wall

About

Our project was centred around the Clapton Common community and looked to bring together members of a diverse community. We facilitated a space to bring members of the community together in the form of a workshop, using art as a connecting thread that participants could use to forge new connections and create something together. We then took these creations and displayed them within the community in a collaborative and immersive way, hoping that it would inspire future collaboration.

As a team, we decided on the workshop because it allowed us to be facilitator and use our knowledge in art to bring the community together. We also wanted to focus on the connections that could be made. Even if no work was to be created, yet people still attended the workshop and forged new connections, it would have been a successful outcome.

In the end, the workshop was successful in that it brought members of the community together, and the feedback we received was positive. It also sparked the community to create Art Jam – a new art club for them to come together for, illustrating the longevity of the project.
