Chromis

About
Chromis is an immersive short film that explores how social labels shape our perception of others and ourselves. Inspired by James Turrell’s light-based art, the film invites viewers to step into real-life stories through a first-person perspective, becoming quiet witnesses to voices often left unheard.
Each story unfolds in a world where personal colours — symbols of identity and individuality — have been dimmed by the weight of bias. As the light fades, a signal emerges: a plea for empathy. Viewers are drawn into intimate journeys of struggle and resilience, guided not by spectacle, but by the act of listening.
At the heart of the narrative are two symbolic figures, Chromis and Iris. Chromis, from the Greek chroma (color), embodies the diversity of human experience and the fight to preserve it. Iris, named after the goddess of the rainbow and a messenger between realms, represents clarity, connection, and hope. Together, they guide us through a fading world toward reclaiming colour and meaning.
Chromis invites us to question the origins of the labels we carry and the ones we give.
When we stop labelling, can we finally see the world in its full spectrum?
