Doomsday Accord
About
Doomsday Accord is a strategic and educational card game that invites players to navigate real-world climate challenges by drawing on the power of three interconnected forces: indigenous knowledge, emerging technology, and policy action. Developed as part of an interdisciplinary exploration into climate systems, the game reframes climate education through the lens of play, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and systems-level understanding.
At its core, Doomsday Accord explores how diverse knowledge systems can come together to build long-term resilience. Inspired by case studies, contemporary climate innovations, and traditional ecological practices, the game challenges players not just to solve isolated environmental problems, but to understand how solutions are shaped by culture, governance, and adaptation over time.
Design Philosophy
Doomsday Accord was designed to foster dialogue, not just competition. Drawing from design research, storytelling, and system thinking, the game simplifies the complexity of climate response into symbolic, thought-provoking interactions. Visuals are inspired by tarot and occult iconography, giving each card an archetypal feel that encourages reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature and progress.
Indigenous Practice cards emphasise intergenerational knowledge, ecosystem stewardship, and community-based solutions.
Technology cards showcase adaptive tools like solar irrigation, smart grids, or renewable energy.
Politics cards highlight governance mechanisms, regulations, and the role of leadership in sustainability.
By weaving together different scales of intervention, from local rituals to global policy, the game helps players understand that effective climate solutions are rarely linear and require alignment across systems.
