About
The word ecosystem means ecological systems. Ecology is the study of ecosystems.
An ecosystem includes all the living things (plants, animals and organisms) in a given area, interacting with each other, and with their non-living environments (weather, earth, sun, soil, climate, atmosphere). In an ecosystem, each organism has its own niche or role to play.
This project sought to cultivate empathy and build a sense of community by emphasizing the way various species function as interconnected ecosystems, thriving
without harming the environment as we navigate through the climate crisis.
On the other hand, our senses unconsciously register changes in the environment, and emotionally, we are affected by the accelerating pace of life in a world driven by consumption. It is up to us to listen, to understand our reactions through sensory and emotional experiences.
Our final exhibition considers ecosystems and as a sub-theme the rhizome as a way of being in the world and how we can bring multiple perspectives to the experience of climate change. This collective group show was both a research process and a response—culminating in an exhibition and a workshop plan, through which we share our findings and invite further exploration.
