About
This project is rooted in ecofeminism, exploring the connection between environmental degradation, agriculture, and gender inequality.
Ecofeminism argues that the exploitation of nature and the oppression of women share the same roots in patriarchy, capitalism, and industrialisation. Monoculture farming embodies this oppression, controls land resources and labor for profit. While it undermines ecological diversity, it also diminishes women’s traditional roles in agriculture, gradually severing their deep connection with the land. Within societal structures, women are often confined to domestic or low-wage roles and expected to embody “fragility” and “ornamental” qualities.
This project uses fabric sculpture and digital imagery as artistic expressions, utilising plant-dyed fabric, wheat, jewelery, and metal wire as symbolic materials. By constructing metaphors that connect women, nature, and agriculture, the work calls for the restoration of biodiversity, seed sovereignty, and the empowerment of women in agriculture to achieve ecological and social balance. At the same time, it emphasises the deep connection between women and the land, highlighting their resilience and regenerative power, while envisioning women as active agents in reshaping ecological and social structures.
