About

Context

In the face of climate change, it’s easy to feel powerless—especially when individual actions seem insignificant against the scale of global emissions. But changing our habits and mindset around consumption is a critical step toward systemic transformation. Our team explored the intersection of anti-consumerism, climate awareness, and skill-building to make sustainability feel practical and accessible, especially for younger audiences.

About the Workshop

Make, Do & Mend is a hands-on workshop that invites participants to:

  • Learn basic clothing repair skills (e.g. darning, sewing buttons)
  • Practice using fabric swatches before applying them to real clothes
  • Reflect on personal consumption habits
  • Engage with the idea that repair is not only practical but political

The workshop’s format is intentionally low-barrier and approachable, turning what can feel like climate anxiety into small, actionable steps.

Key Messages

  • Sustainability can start small—by repairing, not replacing.
  • Critical consumption challenges fast fashion’s harmful cycle.
  • Skill-sharing empowers individuals to act, rather than feel overwhelmed.
  • Design has the power to make sustainable choices visible, tangible, and inclusive.
