About

Our group, Planters, created a hypothetical advertising campaign to encourage plant-based eating as a positive, accessible change people can make to combat the climate crisis.

Food production is a significant contributor to climate change, accounting for approximately 26% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Animal agriculture, in particular, is a leading driver of deforestation, biodiversity loss, land and water use, with CO2 emissions from animal-based products being as much as 10-50 times higher than plant-based products. The data is clear: what we choose to eat has a considerable environmental impact and swapping animal-based foods for plant-based alternatives is one of the most effective ways individuals can reduce their carbon footprint.

Despite this, food’s impact is still underrepresented in climate conversations and so we decided to raise awareness through adverts. Our campaign includes a series of playful, eye-catching posters which would appear in public spaces and on social media. Each of them links to a website via a QR code, expanding on the campaign’s message, presenting environmental data, simple plant-based recipes, and an interactive calculator for users to measure the impact of dietary changes.

Planters aims to plant ideas that shift perspectives, using creativity and education to inspire more sustainable, climate-conscious choices.
