Plastic Pollution: The Ocean Saga

Dream Catcher made using Algae

About

As a part of AcrossRCA climate crisis project, our project, ‘The Ocean Saga’, focuses on addressing the issue of pollution caused in the water bodies due to inappropriate disposal of plastic waste. We explored the impact of proliferation of plastic based objects on humans and the environment and its potential biomaterial substitutes, leading specifically to Algae. Through collaborative research, creative experimentation and interdisciplinary ideas we created our final outcome which was: an educational poetic story as a moving image that aimed to raise awareness about the pollution caused in water bodies due to proliferation of plastic and propose the use of biomaterials as substitutes as well as a dream catcher made of algae, a symbol, which served as a metaphor for hope and restoration.
