SPREAD (Stop People’s Ridiculously Excessive Area Dominance) is a UK-based feminist collective dedicated to challenging the gendered occupation of space. Our zine, uses a mix of humour, sharp analysis, and facts to highlight how men’s excessive leg and arm spreading (especially on London transport) reinforces spatial inequality.

Manspreading isn’t just about comfort, it’s a reflection of deeper societal norms that grant men more space while making women feel smaller, both physically and symbolically. We believe that achieving equality means taking some space back. Through our work, we encourage women to expand, literally and metaphorically, while raising awareness among men about how their unconscious behaviours impact others.

Next time you see (or catch yourself) manspreading, pause and reflect. Creating more inclusive public spaces starts with awareness—and a little less legroom.
