Anais Rodriguez Östberg
About
Anais Öst is a Peruvian-Swedish artist based in London, currently completing an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art. With a background in Contemporary Music from The New School in New York, her interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, sound and light. Influenced by a strong passion for geography and the natural world, Öst explores how we inhabit our environments, emotionally, physically, and perceptually.
Central to her work is the idea of umwelt, the unique sensory world of each being and how perception shapes our understanding of place, self, and the other. Her practice investigates the boundaries between organic and industrial, stillness and motion, containment and flow. Through natural and fabricated materials, Öst creates sculptures and immersive environments that respond to time, perspective, and movement.
By blurring the line between viewer and object, Öst invites audiences to experience shifting landscapes through their own embodied lens. Her work reflects on impermanence, transformation, and the interconnectedness of all things, prompting a quiet awareness of the layered ecologies, internal, external and in-between, that we move through every day.
