About

Fangtong Liu is from the Curating Contemporary Art programme and has a background in theatre. Her curatorial practice engages with performance, moving image, and queer methodologies, with a particular focus on mythology, relational dynamics, embodied cognition, and cross-cultural translation. She is particularly interested in rehearsal as a curatorial strategy, exploring how curating can foster open-ended, process-led encounters and challenge the centralisation of authority. Grounded in Asian contexts and community-based practices, her work embraces ambiguity, co-presence, and misalignment as integral elements of a curatorial process that values complexity and openness. She is currently working with the independent collective Random Headache on screening programmes and collaborative projects with independent artists and filmmakers.
