About
Koori Ding (b. 1998, Beijing) lives and works in Sichuan, Tokyo, and London. Currently live in London. Koori Ding is a painter and poet who oscillates between cities and rural areas. His paintings are based on a long-term focus on words, sounds, and intuition.
In his current practice, he focuses on the tension between systems and anti-systems. This continuous reflection mechanism inspires his most primitive social concerns. These concerns often materialize as poems and sketches, offering meditations on themes such as social change, conflict, the supernatural, and ritual. For him, poetry is not a tool for communication but a material for self-reflection. Through the integration of this introspective process with vision, he navigates conflicting structures.
Drawing from the intricacies of contemporary literature, Koori extends his exploration to the boundaries of painting, text, semiotics, and phenomenology. His practice reimagines systems and anti-systems, transforming them into a self-aware and constantly reconstructing visual field.
