About
Our project explores how lived experiences can bridge generational gaps, amplifying the voices of older adults while reshaping younger people’s perceptions of ageing.
Initially, we faced challenges in defining our research focus, recognizing a prevalent negative perception of ageing rooted in uncertainty rather than firsthand knowledge. To address this, we engaged directly with older adults through interactive workshops at MHA Communities West London. Our sessions—Collective Timeline, Cherished Items, and Life Advice—provided a platform for storytelling, fostering deeper intergenerational connections. We documented these narratives in a publication designed to be both a tangible and digital resource, ensuring accessibility while maintaining intimacy. Beyond research, we prioritized ethics, securing formal approval and participant consent.
The impact extends beyond our project: the publication aids MHA in securing future funding and promotes a more nuanced understanding of ageing. We hope this initiative continues to inspire dialogue, fostering appreciation for ageing as a meaningful, enriching journey.
